Info about the product

Think of a Kirkeby hand towel as more than just a swatch of fabric. In fact it is a story, one that embraces the world of Danish design, the personal background of textile designer Gitte Lægård, and the history of FDB Møbler’s previous designers. The name comes from Mejrup Kirkeby, Lægård’s birthplace, and the refined graphic pattern pays homage to the woven elements of Jørgen Bækmark's iconic dining chairs from 1962. Yet another highlight in the history of FDB Møbler, creating classics since 1942.

Gitte Lægård

Gitte Lægård, an Aarhus-based designer, brings a fresh perspective to FDB Møbler’s design tradition while honoring her own artistic roots. As graduate in textile design from the Design School Kolding, Gitte has always worked in the intersection between textiles and illustration. With a special love for handmade paper, she has developed exhibitions, decorative installations, and book projects that highlight her sensitivity to tactile and storytelling elements. Whether she’s working with textiles or paper art, Gitte strives to create products that connect and engage with people. She often includes children and young people in her design processes and conducts thorough market
research to create relevant and meaningful products. For Gitte, a strong narrative and an inspiring process are essential to everything she creates.
