Info about the product

J83 is a simple, comfortable stool that is among the most iconic designs from the first golden age of FDB Møbler. Jørgen Bækmark, who was head of the FDB Møbler design studio from 1958, designed it to complement the popular J80 and J81 dining table chairs, as well as the J82 lounge chair – or armchair, as it was called back in the 1960s. The chairs and stool are part of the design that has literally proved timeless and been popular for generations. Jørgen Bækmark stressed that furniture should be comfortable, and this is certainly true of the stool, too.

Jørgen Bækmark

Jørgen Bækmark (b. 1929 - 2021) is behind several iconic Danish furniture. From 1958 and nine years on, he was a design director of FDB Møbler, where he helped make design furniture available to the common man.

Based on the Danish design tradition, his furniture is characterized by a beautiful, quiet design language and a solid craft with the eye for the smallest details. There is a special harmony in the furniture, including in his classic dining table chairs J80 and J81.

Perhaps most importantly, Jørgen Bækmark has always emphasized comfort, which his furniture bears the mark of the day today.
